Modo Hawaii is a Hawaiian-founded mochi donut brand that became a sensation in the South Bay, with people waiting hours for their signature chewy, airy mochi donuts. After seven years serving in the San Jose area (originally as pop-ups at Mitsuwa Marketplace), Modo opened its first San Francisco location in the Parkside/Sunset District in 2025. Each donut is fried and dipped to order, resulting in an impossibly light, almost dissolving texture. The shop also serves poke bowls, soy lattes, coffee, and ice cream, making it a full destination experience. Their half-dozen daily special before 1pm is a popular deal.
