Dutch Girl Donuts is a Detroit institution that first opened as Dixie Cream Donuts in 1947 by the Timmer family on Woodward Avenue. After briefly closing in 2021, the shop was purchased by Paddy Lynch (owner of the Schvitz) and triumphantly reopened in 2024, with Detroiters flocking back in droves. Lynch preserved the original doughnut-making process, from the vintage equipment down to the flour, ensuring every bite tastes exactly like it did decades ago. The Palmer Park location feels like a time capsule of classic Americana, and it remains a must-visit for any doughnut lover in the Motor City.
