This Southern California chain (founded in Costa Mesa in 2012) uses premium ingredients — real vanilla bean, brown butter, seasonal fruits — and charges accordingly, but you absolutely taste the difference. Their huckleberry cake donut and butter + salt brown butter donut are revelation-level baked goods. The Del Mar location quickly won over San Diegans with its neighborly staff and consistently excellent product. Not cheap, but worth every penny.
